Course Description:
This course focuses on the practical application of object-oriented concepts for analysis and design to the development of business systems. Students will perform use case analysis to identify initial classes and will progress to detailed class design, defining class attributes, behaviours, hierarchies and relationships. Throughout the course students will be creating a detailed software model based on an in-depth business case study.
Credit Status: 1 credit (3 units)
Required for BSD - Bachelor of Technology (Software Development)

Learning Outcomes:
  •     summarize results of object oriented class design sessions in both unified modeling language format and written format
  •     summarize updated system requirements in writing in required formats
  •     participate as part of an analysis and design team to ensure each required unit of work is completed on time and to specifications
  •     participate in object oriented class design sessions to determine class responsibilities
  •     analyze documented requirements using object oriented techniques and create a software model of the resulting design
  •     create system level sequence diagrams that test the logic of use case specifications using the unified modeling language and a software modeling tool
  •     model the interaction between objects through object-level sequence diagrams using the unified modeling language and a software modeling tool
  •     create design class diagrams for the application being modeled using the unified modeling language and a software modeling tool
  •     communicate status, problems and suggestions to other group members using required standard formats
