Applied research

Open source
The School of ICT is recognized worldwide as a leader in open source education. The School was an early adopter of open source technology in the classroom and has since established innovative relationships with world class open source projects, such as Mozilla’s Firefox web browser. Seneca students have the opportunity to work with developers around the globe, contributing to software used by millions of people.
Since 2002, the School has run the Free Software and Open Source Symposium (FSOSS), regarded by many as the premiere open source event in North America.
